-  Inmates at New Jersey State Prison donated non-perishable foods to the HomeFront Food Pantry program in Lawrenceville. The food drive was coordinated by the state’s NAACP Prison Project Committee. The non-perishables, which were purchased by inmates at the prison’s commissary, were loaded onto a truck and delivered to the food pantry on the morning of July 7.

 The NJSCNAACP will join a coalition of civil rights and advocacy organizations on Monday December 7, 2009 at 10am at the New Jersey State House Annex Court Yard (West State Street) to RALLY IN SUPPORT OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND PRISON RE-ENTRY BILLS

NJ NAACP News 12-05-2009: Re-Entry Bill Leglislation -  The NJSCNAACP will join a coalition of civil rights and advocacy organizations on Monday December 7, 2009 at 10am at the New Jersey State House Annex Court Yard (West State Street) to RALLY IN SUPPORT OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND PRISON RE-ENTRY BILLS: A4197-Strengthening Women and Families Act; A4198-Post- Release Employment Act; A4199-Administration of Correctional Facilities Act; A4201-Reduction of Recidivism Act; A4202-Education and Rehabilitation Act; A4203-Criminal Penalties Act.  The NJSCNAACP is convinced that this long overdue reform legislation will have a huge impact on the rehabilitation of inmates and will lead to significant improvements in the quality of life for inmates, their families and most importantly, the communities in which they will live.
